Tournament Story
The Memorial Day Weekend Classic was founded in 2023 by Dylan Marcos (Commissioner) and Aaron Magdaleno (Co-Commissioner & Chief Marketing Officer). What began as a small gathering of 12 friends competing in a friendly holiday weekend round of golf quickly developed into something more. A tradition built on competition, camaraderie, and a shared appreciation for the love of the game.
Held annually at Dragonfly Golf Club in Madera, California, the tournament has grown into the Central Valley’s premier Memorial Day weekend golf event. Each year, more than 30 players compete in a two-man scramble format, creating an environment that balances serious competition with an unforgettable weekend experience.
At the center of the competition is the Memorial Cup, awarded to the champions whose names are permanently engraved on the trophy. Earning a place on the Memorial Cup represents more than just a victory. It signifies excellence, consistency, and the ability to perform when it matters most.
While competition is at the heart of the MDW Classic, the tournament is equally defined by the memories created each year. The event brings together players of all skill levels who share a passion for golf, a respect for the game, and an appreciation for the camaraderie that makes the weekend special.
As the tournament continues to grow, the Memorial Day Weekend Classic remains committed to maintaining the spirit it was founded on: a balance of competitive golf, good vibes, and a tradition players look forward to year after year.
